Oleksandr Usyk reveals his exact scorecard after Tyson Fury claims to “have won the fight”

Oleksandr Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion in over two decades via a split decision win against previously undefeated Tyson Fury.

The Ukrainian started well in the fight but, when his movement slowed slightly in the middle rounds, was a clear target for a thudding uppercut delivered by the Brit. The momentum was firmly with Fury until Usyk, as he has done on many occasions, found another gear and took back control.

Fury’s scorecard for the Usyk fight had himself a wide winner

He bloodied the nose of ‘The Gypsy King’, impairing his vision enough to capitalise one round later and hurt him like he hasn’t been before, knocking him from rope to rope before the referee stepped in to deliver a count.

The official scorecards read 115-112 to Usyk, 114-113 to Fury, and 114-113 to Usyk.

In response to Fury’s score in which he gave Usyk just four rounds and himself eight, the recently undisputed champion was asked for his own by Boxing King Media. He said he had it 7-5.

“Seven. Yeah.”

The fight took a toll on both men, with Fury receiving that beating in the ninth round and Usyk suffering a cut above his right eye. He does however completely refute claims from his opponent that he had a broken jaw in the aftermath.

“It’s bulls**t. Listen, people say bulls**t. No break. You see after the fight we go to the press conference, I spoke no problem, yeah? How? … I went to the hospital, yes, because after the fight I had a cut. My face was in pain. My back was in pain. My legs. They scanned the brain, doc said yes everything’s okay, good.

Listen, it’s discipline. When you make a fight, after you go to the hospital. It’s professional. Who doesn’t go to the hospital after a fight for a professional doctor? It’s stupid, man.”

The two heavyweights run it back on December 21 – albeit for just three of the four belts – each promising to be better than last time out and certain to deliver once more for fight fans.
