Loose Women star Lisa Maxwell’s ‘huge row’ with husband during perimenopause after he pleaded for months for her ‘to get help’

Former Loose Women star Lisa Maxwell previously opened up about a massive argument she had with her husband when she was perimenopausal.

Actress Lisa, 60, married her long-term beau Paul Jessup back in 2014, after 17 years of dating. The pair share a daughter called Beau, born in 1999.

However, back in 2012, Lisa candidly opened up about the effects of being perimenopausal.

Loose Women star Lisa Maxwell on ‘massive row’ with husband

Writing in MailOnline, Lisa, who was 48 at the time, recounted a row between herself and Paul after she started “shivering” in their bedroom.

Paul was beginning to lose his patience. We ended up having an enormous row.

The Bill star then “snapped” at Paul as she quizzed him on what was wrong with the heating.

“By now, Paul was beginning to lose his patience. We ended up having an enormous row, then Paul, my partner of 14 years, stormed off to sleep in the spare room, and I slammed the door behind him,” she revealed.

Loose Women star Lisa then revealed how despite things getting heated, she “couldn’t back down” and “bellowed” to her husband: “That’s right. You take the warm bedroom.”

She went on to compare herself to “a woman possessed” – but noted how there was nothing Paul could say or do to calm her down. She then confirmed that she was in the “grip of something over which I have absolutely no control — the perimenopause”.

Lisa then went on to recall how, at the time, she suffered from “horrifying mood swings, flying off the handle at the slightest provocation, crying, and making excuses not to go out, because I have felt so exhausted.”

She added: “Paul has been asking me for months to get help and finally, aware that I have been putting our relationship under strain, I have listened to him and visited my doctor. I’m hoping that, if I can be open about what’s happening to me, other women might recognise what’s going on in their own bodies.”

Lisa married her long-term partner Paul Jessup in 2014 after 17 years of dating. She had popped the question to him two years earlier, the day before the leap year in February 2012.

Paul is the former director of an events management company. He now owns the Great British Teddy Bear Company and Big Red Bus English, which offers language tuition to children in China.

The pair live together with their family in the Cotswolds. She also has three dogs – Pepper, a Miniature Schnauzer, Elvis and Priscilla Pugs-ley.
