Ben Davidson Says He Can Help Anthony Joshua Beat Champion Usyk – “I’m Really Confident”

Ben Davidson is confident he can help Anthony Joshua beat Oleksandr Usyk in a trilogy.

Usyk defeated Joshua in consecutive fights to become the Unified Heavyweight Champion. Since then, both boxers have improved. Usyk became the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion with a split decision win against Tyson Fury. They will rematch on December 21. Meanwhile, Joshua has two stoppage wins on the bounce in his last two bouts, with wins over Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.

Joshua now boxes Daniel Dubois for the chance to win the IBF Heavyweight Title. A win makes Joshua a three-time world champion and mandatory for the winner of Fury-Usyk. If the results go the right way, Joshua could face Usyk in a trilogy for undisputed. Davidson felt Joshua could get the best of him.

Davidson Reacts

“I’d really like the opportunity to put that Usyk fight right for him. I don’t know if that’s even doable, but that’s something that I would love to help him do. I’m really confident we’d be able to help him put that right,” Davison stated

And Usyk is ready to face Joshua if it comes about.

“I don’t particularly want any rematches, but when we beat Tyson Fury for the second time and when Anthony Joshua beats Daniel Dubois, of course they will want to do a third fight. From my point of view I have no right to deny Anthony a third fight because he gave me two incredible fights. Anthony helped me become even more famous in the world. Anthony did it. And if it happens with God’s help, then I am ready for a third fight with Anthony,” Usyk said

Nevertheless, Usyk’s team is also open to other options. His team has suggested a possible crossover fight in BKFC against Conor McGregor. There is also the option of moving back down to cruiserweight. But since the Ukrainian has already been undisputed as cruiserweight and heavyweight, there is the question of how long Usyk should continue.

The Ukrainian has nothing else to prove in the sport. Provided he gets past Fury, he will hands down be the best heavyweight of his era. Based on what Usyk has seen, the Ukrainian expects a much better version of Joshua.

Usyk’s Comments

“He has improved a lot psychologically. Of course. It’s an Olympic champion and a UK champion – Anthony is a different level,” Usyk added

Joshua also has another option if the Usyk fight fails. He verbally agreed to face Tyson Fury during a FaceTime call. That would be the biggest domestic fight in recent memory. Both men have lost to Usyk and have differing styles. Joshua is a powerful combination puncher, while Fury likes to box his opponents but can sit down on his punches.

The fight is much more competitive now that Fury has suffered his first loss. The Gypsy King showed he was not the same fighter who had steamrolled Deontay Wilder. Eddie Hearn has called for the Fury fight, but that all depends on what happens between the Gypsy King and Usyk next.

“No, I think we will. It will be up to Tyson Fury. If he wins that, obviously, he’s going to want to fight the winner of Usyk-Fury for undisputed. Now, win or lose for Fury, AJ can still fight Fury in a massive fight, but a lot of it’s going to be down to Tyson and how long he wants to go for because he’s still quite young [nearing 36], but does he want to fight if he gets beat by Usyk [again],” Hearn stated
