Gogglebox star Stephen Webb reveals real reason he quit show – and it’s not funny
Channel 4 favourite Stephen Webb may have quit Gogglebox after ten years, but he is embarking on a brand-new journey on the latest series of Celebs Go Dating
Former Gogglebox star Stephen Webb quit the show after 10 years because he was getting bored with his own jokes.
Some of the old ones are the best… however, he admits: “I thought, ‘I just can’t go back, I’m sick of it.’”
Stephen, who is divorcing Daniel Lustig, his Gogglebox co-star and partner of 12 years, is now looking for love on Celebs Go Dating. He notes many people have appeared alongside him on his sofa, quipping: “I’ve had more line-ups than the Sugababes.”

“I was churning out the same old sh**. I’d say to the guys, ‘Sorry, you’ll have heard this 10 times before…’ I don’t know why they’ve not cottoned on. When I shoved the doughnut in my mouth and swallowed… I must have done that four times. It made it on every time.”
Stephen lost both his parents this year, amid many other life changes that prompted him to try new things.
“A lot has happened over the last six months,” he says. “I left Gogglebox, left my husband, lost both parents. Broke my ankle doing Dancing on Ice. It’s a lot to deal with and I’m making these big decisions.”
Celebs Go Dating launches on Monday at 9pm on E4 and airs weekly Monday to Thursday.
