The Canadian superstar Drake suffered yet another financial blow, losing $565,000 after betting on Tyson Fury in his Undisputed Heavyweight Championship fight against Oleksandr Usyk. According to The New York Post, Drake placed a substantial wager on Tyson Fury, confident in his victory over Usyk. However, the match ended in a split-decision ruling favoring Usyk, handing Fury his first professional loss with a score of 114-113 from one judge, while the other two judges scored 114-113 and 115-112 for Usyk. This unexpected outcome not only handed Drake a significant financial loss but also reinforced the infamous “Drake Curse.”
The “Drake Curse” refers to a trend where athletes or teams that Drake publicly supports or bets on tend to lose. He also lost 2 million Canadian dollars in November 2022 when UFC competitor Alex Pereira knocked out Israel Adesanya.
