LeBron and Bronny, however, won’t be traveling to NYC for the draft

LEBRON James is hosting an NBA draft party – and is dreaming of toasting the next stage of his son Bronny’s basketball career.

The USC star, who suffered a cardiac arrest last year during training, is slated for a second-round pick on Thursday night.

He, and his superstar dad, have decided not to travel to New York City for the big NBA bash and will instead kick back in Los Angeles for a barbeque with friends and family all waiting for the good news to roll in.

Bronny, 19, was projected as a top-10 pick before his shock collapse last July but was able to return to action just five months later.

His stats have been pretty unremarkable – he averaged just 4.8 points, 2.1 assists, and 2.8 rebounds in a USC team that went 15-18.

He is down as the 55th pick and although it seems certain his dad’s LA Lakers will come calling, there will be cameras on hand to document every moment.

The U.S. Sun understands everything from the moment his name is called to his first days at his new team will be filmed by a crew from James and business partner Maverick Carter’s SpringHill media company.

The plan is to release a Bronny documentary, with LeBron set to play a starring role.

“Bronny hasn’t been invited to the Green Room, which would have given the possibility for LeBron and co to attend the first round draft so the family decided to have a party at home,” an NBA source told The U.S. Sun.

“Bronny’s favorite food is BBQ and everyone will enjoy some nice drinks with some loved ones, both family and friends of his from high school and USC.

“It should be a great night.”

It’s expected that the 19-year-old will be snubbed from the first round.

Bronny James: The Challenge of Following LeBron’s Legacy

And the possibility of the father-son duo playing together on the same team is not a certainty.

Los Angeles isn’t expected to pick Bronny with their 17th pick and won’t pick for another 38 selections.

The Phoenix Suns, who own the 22nd pick, at least for now, are the only team besides the Lakers that the 19-year-old is known to have worked out for.

Bronny’s agent, Rich Paul, told ESPN on June 19 that the Minnesota Timberwolves, who own the 27th and 37th picks, Dallas Mavericks, who have the 58th selection, and Toronto Raptors, who are armed with the 19th and 31st picks, for now, are interested in drafting him.

It’s worth noting that any team thinking of the possibility of increasing its odds of signing LeBron by taking his son in the draft most likely doesn’t exist.

Paul threw cold water on that day in a May interview with Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes.

“LeBron is off this idea of having to play with Bronny,” he said.

Paul, who also represents LeBron, has made it clear to separate Bronny from his father’s free agency decision in July.

When asked by Paul what he wanted for himself on draft day, James’ responded, “I just want to hear my name called.”

The first round of the NBA draft takes place on Wednesday at 8 pm ET.

If Bronny is snubbed from the first round, viewers can get to watch him possibly be selected in the second round of the draft, which begins on Thursday at 4 pm ET.
