Patrick Beverley has apologized for his ‘inexcusable’ behavior after he launched a ball at Pacers fans during the Bucks’ elimination from the NBA playoffs last week.
However, the veteran guard said the fans ‘crossed a line’ while taunting him, claiming he could have had them kicked out of the stadium.
‘It’s an unfortunate situation that should have never happened. What I did was bad and that should have never happened. I have to be better and I will be better,’ he said in a preview for ‘The Pat Bev Podcast’ Tuesday.
‘Regardless of what was said… it was more than, “Cancun on three,”‘ he explained, referencing a report that fans were chanting the expression about a team’s season ending with a trip to the Mexican hotspot.
‘Let’s just say it was more than that. I’ve been called a lot of stuff in this league, I haven’t been called that one. Still inexcusable, it doesn’t matter what was said. I have to be better and I will be better,’ he reiterated.

Beverly went on to note that he doesn’t believe in having people who paid to watch a game get kicked out – even if they ‘took it a little bit too far.’
‘I’m not the guy to get fans kicked out neither, the things that were said to me, I could have got four, five fans kicked out,’ the 35-year-old claimed.
‘Literally, security walked up to me. “You wanna get that fan thrown out?” You can say anything when you winning, that’s what happens when you win, you can literally say anything,’ he went on.

‘People who spend money to watch us play. I’m not getting them kicked out.’
Beverly also revealed that everyone who ‘said something too crazy’ to him eventually apologized, but he won’t be ‘bringing a basketball on the bench no more.’
As the Pacers sealed their series win with a 120-98 Game 6 victory over the Bucks Thursday, Beverley aggressively threw the ball at Indiana fans sitting a few rows back from the team bench.

‘It’s an unfortunate situation that should have never happened’ Beverly admitted on the pod
He claimed the fans ‘crossed a line’ while taunting him, and could have been kicked out
After a woman was hit in the side of the head, he demanded the ball back from another fan, before immediately chucking it back at him with force.
The furious guard was held back by his teammates as the stunned Pacers fans watched on in disbelief.
Beverley did not receive any discipline for his actions during the game, however commissioner Adam Silver later confirmed the NBA was investigating the incident
The Arkansas Razorbacks alum is yet to address a now-viral clip of himself dismissing a female ESPN reporter in a post-game press conference because she did not subscribe to his podcast.
