Klay Thompson deletes Warriors-related Instagram posts with free agency looming

Something has gone missing from Klay Thompson’s Instagram account.

The longtime Warriors star is no longer following the team on the social media platform, mention of the team is gone from his bio, and he deleted the majority of his Warriors-related posts dating back to April, 2022.

That includes deleting celebratory photos of himself winning the NBA championship with the Warriors in 2022.

A four-time champion with the team, Thompson is set to be a free agent this offseason.

Rumors have swirled about his future, and he added more intrigue to the situation with his recent Instagram activity.

Thompson, 34, has played his entire career with the Warriors, though his play has declined in recent years.

He averaged 17.9 points per game this year, his lowest scoring output since 2012-13 — his second season in the league.

Thompson also shot 38.7 percent from 3-point range — the second-worst of his career.

He notably shot 0-for-10 from the field as the Warriors were eliminated from the Play-In Tournament by the Kings, and there’s a chance it’s his final performance for the team.

“To be honest, I really haven’t given it much thought,” Thompson said about his future at his end-of-season press conference. “… I still need to process the year we had. It was one filled with ups and downs. Ultimately, I personally and our team did everything we could to try to win as many games as we possibly could.”

A different local star took a similar route, as stud 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel deleted posts regarding the team when he was seeking a new deal in 2022.

And it worked out for him, as Samuel and the team agreed to a three-year, roughly $71 million deal.

Along with teammates Steph Curry and Draymond Green, Thompson has helped define an era in San Francisco and has been part of one of the most successful trios in NBA history.

“We’ve been the highest of highs, and lows,” Thompson said. “Whether it’s losing a championship, winning a championship, missing the playoffs, we’ve been through everything together. That does mean a lot and make me grateful to have the times that I did have with them. We’ve done some pretty historic stuff.”
