Aaron Rodgers missed the Jets’ mandatory minicamp

Aaron Rodgers has made a sensational return to U.S. soil after being conspicuously absent from the New York Jets’ mandatory minicamp earlier this month. The 40-year-old quarterback, whose absence was termed “unexcused” by head coach Robert Saleh, had sparked a flurry of rumors about his whereabouts, with some speculating he was overseas.

The mystery was partially solved when Marquez Valdes-ScantlingRodgers’ former teammate from the Green Bay Packers, revealed during an appearance on FS1’s “The Herd” that he had been working out with Rodgers in Los Angeles.

Speaking to host Jason McIntyreValdes-Scantling shared, “Me and Aaron have been great friends since my time in Green Bay. I hit him up, told him I was coming out to LA, and said, ‘Let’s run some routes.’ So we got it in. Went out to some high school and ran some routes together. We’re good. It was good.”

McIntyre, a longtime Jets fan, couldn’t contain his excitement, exclaiming, “All the New York media can stand down. Aaron Rodgers is back from Egypt! It’s not a secret anymore!”

Coach Saleh wasn’t happy with Rodgers

Rodgers’absence from the Jets’ minicamp on June 11 had initially raised eyebrows, particularly after Saleh expressed his dissatisfaction, stating it was an “unexcused absence.”

However, a day later, Saleh sought to downplay the situation, saying, “Aaron and I are on the exact same page. There’s no issue between Aaron and me or his teammates for that matter. We addressed it [Tuesday]. It’s more of an issue for everyone outside the building than it is inside. That’s about it.”

While Saleh mentioned that Rodgers’ absence was due to an event “important to him,” he did not provide further details. Although missing a minicamp typically incurs a fine, the Jets have not confirmed whether Rodgers faced any sanctions.

The Jets sighed with releif

Rodgers’ return, albeit surrounded by controversy, is a relief for the Jets as they gear up for the upcoming season. His impromptu workout session in LA with Valdes-Scantling suggests he’s still in shape and ready to take on the challenges ahead.

However, the saga has left many wondering about Rodgers’ priorities and commitment to the team, especially as the Jets look to capitalize on his experience and skills to make a deep playoff run.
