Shortly before her WNBA debut, Angel Reese’s final NCCA women’s basketball championship with LSU ended in a 94-87 loss to Caitlin Clark’s University of Iowa in the Elite Eight.
Reese broke down in tears during the team’s post-match press conference, revealing that she had been subjected to death threats and attacks since LSU’s NCAA championship win in 2023.
“I’ve been through so much. I’ve seen so much. I’ve been attacked so many times. Death threats. I’ve been sexualized. I’ve been threatened,” Angel Reese said.
“I just try to stand strong for my teammates because I don’t want them to see me down and not be there for them. All this has happened since I won the national championship,” she added.
Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian shared his support for Angel Reese, calling for an end to racially motivated harassment and death threats against players.
