Liam Neeson has become one of the most famous Irish people on the planet. Having enjoyed a lengthy career in Hollywood, the 71-year-old remains as one of the leading action stars.
Nowadays, we know Liam Neeson or iconic franchises like Taken and other thrilling action movies. However, his career spans way back before that.
Neeson started acting all the way back in 1978. His first role was in Pilgrim’s Progress, which was based on the book of the same name by John Bunyan. It told the story of a man’s pilgrimage from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City.
Following that, Neeson starred in a range of movies spanning a number of genres. His career still proves lucrative and the actor shows no signs of slowing down.
It was recently announced that the Antrim native would be starring in the Naked Gun reboot alongside Pamela Anderson. Meanwhile, his Ireland-set action flick In The Land of Saints and Sinner recently proved to be a big hit with viewers on Netflix.

Neeson kept it going in the fantasy genre as he starred in 1984’s Excalibur.
The Bounty (1984)
This adventure-drama flick saw Liam Neeson star alongside some big names including Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins.
Schindler’s List (1993)
Schindler’s List remains one of Liam Neeson’s most well-known roles The stand-out performance from the Irish actor earned him an Oscar nomination.
Michael Collins (1996)
In 1996, Liam Neeson starred as a hero of Irish independence, Michael Collins. He received critical appraisal and huge praise form audiences for his portrayal of the beloved Irish historical figure.
Les Miserable (1998)
Before the Oscar-nominated 2008 musical, there was Les Miserable in 1998. Liam Neeson played the ionic lead character, Jean Valjean.

The Grey was a hit with audiences when it was released in 2012. Neeson stars in this action flick that sees a plane carrying oil workers crash in Alaska’s wilderness.
Neeson plays John, a wolf hunter, who leads the team through the heavy snow as they are chased and attacked by relentless wolves.
Non-Stop (2014)
When Non-Stop landed on Netflix last year, fans loved rediscovering the 2014 action flick. In this movie, Neeson plays a US air marshal who receives threatening messages demanding that his airline transfer 150 million dollars to an offshore account, in the absence of which the passengers of his flight will be killed.
The Commuter (2018)
Although it wasn’t a hit with critics, The Commuter was a hit with viewers when it landed on Netflix.
The film follows Neeson who must stop a secret terrorist on a train he is traveling on. It is a typical Liam Neeson action with a tense race against time that fans enjoyed.
Derry Girls (2022)
In the premiere episode of the final season of Derry Girls, Liam Neeson made a surprise cameo as a police officer interviewing the girls after a hilarious yet serious mix-up. Neeson also briefly appeared in the emotional monologue montage in the final moments of the last episode of the show.
In the Land of Saints and Sinners (2023)
In the Land of Saints and Sinners wasn’t very well-reviewed by critics but that didn’t stop it from becoming a hit with people streaming it at home. The film is set in the 1970s amidst The Troubles in Northern Ireland.
