The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship with the Royal Family has been under scrutiny in recent years, with experts warning the couple are in danger of losing their connection to the Firm.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been advised on the two actions they must take if they wish to mend ties with the Royal Family, as the estranged couple are cautioned that The Firm is “very united without them”.

This comes from a royal expert who suggests that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s frequent criticisms of the institution contradict their reported wish for their children to maintain a relationship with their relatives.

Since stepping back from duties in 2020, the Duke of Sussex has not shied away from voicing his criticisms of the Royal Family, including Prince William and King Charles, as disclosed in his revealing memoir ‘Spare’.

Despite her recent cancer diagnosis which led to a reduced public presence, Kate Middleton was spotted at this year’s Trooping the Colour event alongside other members of the Royal Family, reports the Mirror.

Speaking on Sky News Australia, The Mirror’s Royal correspondent Russell Myers stated: “They’re going to [have to] sort of realise, if they’re going to have a relationship with the rest of the Royal Family, they can’t go about trashing them.

“They can’t go about making money off their associations with the Royal Family, hopefully, they’ll see that the Royal Family are very united without them and if they do want a relationship, going forward, they need to take the steam out of their relationship and out of the things they say sometimes.”

Meghan was previously warned she is in danger of “bearing the brunt” of what could become a “sad” situation for her children Archie and Lilibet.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s infrequent visits to the UK have led to a lack of strong familial ties with their cousins, causing experts to question whether the youngsters will fully grasp their royal lineage.

Harry has expressed his desire for his children to understand their heritage. A source revealed to royal author Tom Quinn: “Meghan does miss some aspects of life in the UK and worries that her children will blame her if they never get to see their cousins and feel as adults that they have been deprived of what might have been a fun and meaningful existence in the UK.”

Former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond agrees this is “a legitimate point”. Speaking to OK!, she said: “Children grow up and are innately curious about their heritage and background… and when your heritage is one of the most famous families in the world, it will undoubtedly seem rather odd and perhaps sad that you hardly know or remember them,”.

She added: “Imagine Archie, aged 15, telling his friends, ‘My grandpa is/was King! And my Uncle is/will be King too.’ But he hardly knew or met them. How sad… and Meghan would have to bear the brunt of the responsibility for that.”
