Mike Tyson didn’t hold back when he spotted Bananarama

Boxing legend Mike Tyson is a massive Bananarama fan and loves singing along to their hit songs.

Singer Keren Woodward, 63, said she and bandmates Sara Dallin and Siobhan Fahey were in LA when they heard someone singing their 1983 hit Cruel Summer. The song sold more than a million copies worldwide.

It got to No9 in America after it was used in the movie Karate Kid, starring Ralph Macchio.

Keren, whose songs also include It Ain’t What You Do, said they bumped into the boxer one night in LA: “We were walking back from a diner and Mike Tyson was sitting there on the front of his limousine singing Cruel Summer at us. It was extraordinary.”

Bandmate Sara, 62, said Hollywood star Robert De Niro called them up while they were at home watching Brookside after they had a hit with Robert De Niro’s Waiting in 1984.

Tyson was in need of a doctor after a health scare on a flight from Miami to LA, just before his rumble with Jake Paul.

The heavyweight champ is set to clash with the YouTube sensation in Texas this July but hit a snag when he felt unwell on the plane last Sunday. In Touch Weekly reported that an urgent call for a doctor blared out over the tannoy.

Tyson, 57, apparently got dizzy due to an ulcer acting up with just half an hour to go before landing. However, a rep has now told the Daily Mirror that Tyson’s now “doing great” despite the medical drama.

He’s since claimed to have already bounced back to full health. In a sly dig to his next opponent, 27-year-old Jake Paul, Tyson quipped he won’t even need to be 100% to see off the challenge in the ring.

Taking to X on Tuesday, he wrote: “Now feeling 100% even though I don’t need to be to beat Jake Paul.”

The flight ended up two hours late, but it seems the air con was playing up, not just Tyson.

An onlooker said: “Mike had some kind of medical emergency on the plane and paramedics boarded. Before the paramedics arrived the flight issued an announcement asking for a doctor – the message even came on everyone’s screens,” reports the Mirror.
