Jayson Tatum stays silent

A lot has been spoken about the Celtics before the NBA Finals. Given their route to the Finals, much of their hard work has been discredited. The negativity surrounding the Boston side upset Jason Tatum’s mother, but the forward has remained silent.

During a recent episode of “The Bill Simmons Show,” the issue of outside noise around the Celtics camp arose. Simmons said that the Celtics players hear everything said about them in public but have kept their focus only on the job.

According to the veteran analyst, Tatum’s mother, Brandy Cole, has reacted to it and is far from pleased with what’s been written on social media and in the press. Bill Simmons’ father joined the pod and said, “Tatum tries to stay away from reading all that, but his mother doesn’t. And his mother was all over it. Very upset.”

Tatum had an off day on Thursday despite his double-double performance. He scored below 40% from the field, but the Celtics still managed to bag game one thanks to Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis.

Tatum, so far, has kept things to himself about the talks surrounding the team by not responding to anything through social media. But he had to reply when it came to Jason Kidd’s words.

Jayson Tatum Reacts to Jason Kidd’s Praise

Ahead of game 2 of the NBA Finals series, the Mavericks HC, Jason Kidd, was all praise about Tatum. He said, “Well, Jaylen’s their best player. So, just looking at what he does defensively. He picked up Luka [Doncic] full-court. He got to the free-throw line. Jaylen did everything, and that’s what your best player does.”

When Tatum was made aware of Kidd’s remarks, the 26-year-old responded non-confrontationally, “No reaction.”

“This is a team sport. We wouldn’t be here if we didn’t have JB on our team… People try to drive a wedge between us. It’s a smart thing to do, or try to do… We’ve been in this situation,” Tatum further added.

Sunday night’s game 2 is hours away from tip-off, and Jayson Tatum will undoubtedly have much to say. But as he has done in the past, he’ll keep his mouth shut and let the ball do all the talking.
