After a long wait, CeeDee Lamb finally landed a deserving four-year extension worth $136 million on Monday. And with less than two weeks left for the coming 2024 regular season, the star receiver is ready for the battle, and to end the Dallas Cowboys’ Super Bowl drought of nearly three decades.

Earning the second-highest wide receiver’s contract was all it took for Lamb to devote himself to the Cowboys once again, after coming off a Pro Bowl season in 2023. Since the receiver hadn’t joined the team for any of the practice drills throughout the offseason and preseason, many believe it would be tough for him to get back in form and align with new strategies.

However, while talking to the reporters on Tuesday, Lamb stated that he is “not missing a beat” as he had been working out on his own throughout his holdout. With the 2024 season just around the corner, Lamb is “ready to go to battle” and take on his key role in the offense as he did last season by leading the Cowboys to the playoffs as the second-seeded team in the conference.

Quite honestly, I don’t think it’s gonna be a step behind, at all — I’m ready. I’ve played this game my whole life. I gotta get bumped a little bit. Those are things, contact violence, but I trained for those. I feel like I’m more prepared than ever.

Judging from Lamb’s high confidence in himself, it’s highly unlikely that the Cowboys will step on the football field against the Cleveland Browns without him in the opening week of 2024.

Mike McCarthy excited for CeeDee Lamb’s impact on the team

Since Lamb missed the training camp and all three preseason games, he is liable for a fine of more than $3 million despite signing the lucrative $136 million deal. This penalty can only be revoked if the team considers it bygone because he was on his rookie deal. Nonetheless, head coach Mike McCarthy is the happiest after hearing the deal in place, believing it will boost the team’s morale.

When that big smile he walks in the locker room, everybody's going to be fired up because that's the kind of juice. He brings, that's that type of energy to our locker room.

The Cowboys’ head coach isn’t rushing Lamb back into the practices as he intends to avoid any risk of injuries before the season-opening week on September 8. That’s why, they encouraged him to work on his own, while gradually joining the team for the three practice sessions scheduled for this week at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
