ALEX Jones was left cringing on The One Show yesterday when Deborah Meaden prompted her to reveal a strange job she used to have.

Although she is now a household name, Alex had to do odd jobs to make ends meet before making it as a BBC show host.

During a conversation with Dragons’ Den’s Deborah Meaden, the Welsh presenter ended up getting quizzed on what she did before she started fronting The One Show.

Business mogul Deborah kicked the conversation off by admitting she used to work with animals as a teen.

She giggled: “My first job was leading pony rides up and down by the seafront. I got paid nothing. I got paid in pennies I think.

“But I got to ride the ponies back!”

She then turned the question back around on Alex, who started off by sharing that she worked in a department store when she was younger.

However, Deborah wouldn’t let her get away without divulging something a little more embarrassing, retorting: “Be honest! You dressed up – I’ve heard this before.”

Alex then revealed that she had in fact been kitted out in an aquatic costume for an advert.

“Yes,” she groaned, “I was dressed as a dolphin, promoting dolphin friendly tuna.”

Deborah proudly pointed out that she had ‘outed’ Alex, saying the presenter would never have admitted to the role if she hadn’t forced her hand.

The show host acknowledged that was true, before sarcastically responding: “Thank you Deborah!”

However, Alex was certainly not alone in having worked bizarre jobs before her real career kicked off.

The Dragon also shared that Taylor Swift used to work at a Christmas tree farm before becoming a pop singer.

The American songstress was tasked with picking preying mantis eggs off the pine trees, so the insects wouldn’t hatch inside an unsuspecting customer’s house.
