Caitlin Clark Makes WNBA History in Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky Game

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is off to a historic start to her WNBA career. Breaking league records with her scoring and playmaking, Clark continues to improve as the season goes on, which has been reflected by Indiana’s impressive four-game winning streak.

Entering Sunday’s game vs. the Chicago Sky with a half-game hold on the final Eastern Conference playoff spot, Indiana needed a win to maintain their brief lead over Chicago in the standings.

Doing all she can to make that happen, Clark made WNBA history before the fourth quarter even began, becoming the first rookie since 2009 with a points/assists double-double and a points/rebounds double in the same season.

This was just one of several ways Clark made history in this game, as she also set Indiana’s franchise record for assists in a game with her 13th dime. This came during the third quarter, as Clark was able to break this record with a full quarter to play.

In addition to these incredible records, StatMamba on X (formerly known as Twitter) reported that Clark has the most double-doubles by a rookie since 1997. Breaking the record early in the season, Clark will likely put it far out of reach, as she seems to tally double-doubles with ease.

Exceeding expectations in many ways to start her career, Clark is not only achieving individual accomplishments, but has helped completely turn Indiana’s season around. With their sights set on the postseason, Indiana looks like a completely different team than they were to start the year.
