Dwayne Johnson sets the bar high for his upcoming film, The Smashing Machine!

After Dwayne Johnson was hailed as one of the most significant faces that led to the success of WWE during its Attitude Era, he decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

The Fast Five actor soon became one of the most renowned celebrities in the world and has probably the most recognizable faces in the world. After he took a stumble with Black Adam, he decided to return to WWE as The Final Boss.

However, it looks like The Brahma Bull is ready to make a comeback in the action scene as he is preparing to add another iconic role under his name in the upcoming film, The Smashing Machine. While fans are excited to see Johnson delving deep into the role, they refuse to believe it’s the same man they have been watching on the silver screens for so many years.

Dwayne Johnson Underwent An Unreal Transformation for The Smashing Machine

Benny Safdie’s The Smashing Machine is one of the most heavily anticipated films of the year, which is all set to showcase the story of Mark Kerr, a former wrestler and MMA icon.

The film garnered immense buzz upon announcement and after they revealed the first look of Dwayne Johnson in the role of Kerr, the legendary face of the sport.

The film is currently in production, and the film has shared a first look at the actor in the role. Just like his other roles, the Red Notice actor has undergone a physical transformation, and some prosthetics have been used to hide his tattoos.

While he has the right physique to helm the role, he appears to be sporting some facial prosthetics and a wig that makes him look like a carbon copy of the two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion.

The actor had been attracted to the project because he had previously told Variety that he is at that stage of his acting career, where he would love to push past his limits and make films that are different from what he has been doing for so many years. He said,

I’m at a point in my career where I want to push myself in ways that I’ve not pushed myself in the past. I’m at a point in my career where I want to make films that matter, that explore a humanity and explore struggle [and] pain.

Nevertheless, the actor has pushed boundaries to showcase his acting prowess, as he stars in the most dramatic project and role yet. Johnson emphasized that he is not doing the role for a bigger box office collection but he wants “more humanity“ in his films.

Fans React To Dwayne Johnson’s First Look in The Smashing Machine

The Rock is totally into his role of Mark Kerr, and with the way the film is progressing, the project will be one of the biggest films that will be released at the end of this year. However, fans are in disbelief because, when the film shared the first look of the actor in the film, they were all taken aback.

Moreover, a lot of them believed that it was not Johnson but someone else portraying the role. They appreciated the actor on X, as they share their opinion on the platform, and are astounded by the effort the Moana actor has put in to showcase an authentic portrayal of the legend.

Emily Blunt is also going to be a part of the film, as she portrays the role of Kerr’s wife. The film has raised interest among movie connoisseurs and even if you are a casual moviegoer, The Smashing Machine should be on your watchlist.

The Smashing Machine is set to release in theatres in December 2024, with an official date yet to be announced.
