Taylor Swift praises Edinburgh crowd on second night of her Eras Tour gig at Murrayfield

The American singer performed for a second evening at Murrayfield in Edinburgh.

Taylor Swift proved her sTAYing power as she performed a second consecutive sell-out night at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium, taking her tally to SEVEN HOURS of live music.

The 34-year old pop superstar showed no sign of fatigue despite having sung 45 songs lasting three-and-a-half hours the night before.

And the crowd were euphoric as Taylor stepped onstage in a red, white and blue sequined bodysuit and matching necklace and sparkling white Christian Louboutin boots following a recording of Dusty Springfield’s You Don’t Own Me that set the scene.

Opening her show with Miss America & The Heartbreak Prince, the noise level in the stadium was almost unprecedented, such is the popularity of the world’s number one music sensation.

The impressive song list was organised into 10 sections representing each of her musical eras including Lover, Fearless, Red, Speak Now, Reputation, Folklore/Evermore, 1989, The Tortured Poets Department, Surprise Songs and Midnight.

Among the highlights was the section Folklore/Evermore during which she lay, dressed in red, on the moss covered roof of a cottage that came with a match baby grand piano as she sang Cardigan from the first of the two eras which had been combined to make room for songs from her latest album The Tortured Poets Department.

Cruel Summer, The Man, Love Story, We Are Never Getting Back Together, Don’t Blame Me and Shake It Off proved particular favourites though every single song was a singalong affair with the crowd having memorised every lyric.

For Enchanted she wore a spectacular fairy tale sparkling Princess prom style dress.

During 22 came a heartwarming moment as she gave her hat to a young girl in the crowd.

And with almost two dozen breathtaking costume changes, even without the music it would make for a stunning fashion show.

“Oh Edinburgh look what you’ve done now. You’ve gone and made me feel so excellent.

“I’m not going to lie that just went straight to my head. Now I’m feeling really, really powerful. You’ve made me feel so nice like I’ve just played a show to 73,000 people and that is why.”

Swift’s massive Eras tour dates in Scotland have broken records for the biggest run of sell-out stadium shows with almost 220,000 people in attendance.

Earlier, Paramore had wrapped up their hit-packed set to roars of applause, having delighted the crowd as the opening act.

The group’s singer Hayley Williams said: “I don’t know if you know this but you are one of the biggest fandoms in the world and I want to tell you what a privilege it is to be here.”

She also referenced Scotland’s Cruel Summer when she added: “We love you and we hope that one day the sun will come out for you.”

Swift will close off her Scottish visit with her third performance on Sunday night, having told her fans: “I’m absolutely delighted to say these words to you tonight. Welcome to the Eras tour.

“I wanted to say just before we get into this on behalf of me, my band and all the members of the crew you have made us feel so at home. You have done a pretty astonishing thing for us. We’ve not been here for nine years and this is how you welcome us with the biggest stadium show ever.

“Somehow we managed to pack even more people in tonight. Tonight you’re going to hear a lot of songs.

“After tonight when you hear these songs you’re going to think of us and the memories we made on the Eras tour.”

Like anyone at the top of their game Taylor Swift will have her critics but the fact of the matter is that her output and her success is truly phenomenal.
