Cam Newton backs up Tyreek Hill's status as NFL's No.1 over Patrick Mahomes

Former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has offered more validity to Tyreek Hill‘s given status as the top player in the NFL right now, despite many calls for Patrick Mahomes to be recognized as the best.

The NFL recently released their Top 100 list and it had the Miami Dolphins player in the top spot, making him the first-ever wide receiver to be at the top of the list.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Mahomes is regarded by many as the best player in the NFL, but he was only fourth on the list.

That has led to major opposition from Chiefs fans and prominent members of the franchise, but Newton thinks that Hill deserves his place at the top.

Newton calls Hill ‘dangerous’

He was asked about the situation during the ‘4 and 1’ show and they shared a clip of him speaking on X with the caption: “Tyreek Hill was voted the #1 player in the NFL by his peers, and @CameronNewton agrees. But there’s one person who should be the MOST grateful for @cheetah.”

When the host asked, “Should anybody feel disrespected?” Cam responded, saying: “Nah, that’s a solid list right there. Tyreek Hill is the most dangerous man in the NFL.

“The person who should be so grateful for Tyreek Hill is Jaylen Waddle. You cannot cover a man like Tyreek Hill with one person, so therefore he’s going to take two people. And when I say doubling a person, it doesn’t necessarily always mean two people are solely dedicated to one person. It’s more or less saying we’re clouding the coverage towards him.

“Now, with a stronger run game, you have to bring a guy into the box. You know they ain’t got enough people to contend with the run, right, to stop Tyreek Hill. So, you know it’s only gonna be one person that’s gonna be on me, Jaylen Waddle. You know you’re going to have one-on-one. It’s almost like Joel Embiid playing like Shaquille O’Neal.”
