Liam Neeson’s ‘tremendous’ movie is free on Amazon Prime now and hailed as ‘bone chilling’
Liam Neeson’s film The Grey has been hailed as “bone chilling” and “tremendous” by new viewers who have recently stumbled upon it online.
The thriller was added to the free options for Amazon Prime members, who have been taking to the internet to sing praises about the plot and Neeson’s performance.
Directed by Joe Carnahan, The Grey was released in 2012. The narrative follows the story of six oil workers stranded in a remote part of Alaska after their plane crashes, reports the Irish Star.
Neeson takes on the lead role of Ottway, a skilled huntsman who attempts to guide the group past a pack of wolves towards survival. The Irish actor received high praise for his work on the film, which raked in over $81million worldwide.
The Grey seems to be having a moment once again, having been rediscovered on Amazon Prime. Reviews have been popping up on sites like Rotten Tomatoes over the past weeks, with some viewers saying they’ve even come back to watch it a second or third time.
The film has an 80 percent approval rating from critics – but only a 61 percent score from audiences. That seems to now be changing, however.
“A cut above the usual survival film as it adds a layer of philosophy, and even a subtle spiritual aspect,” one viewer wrote on Rotten Tomatoes.
“The fact that its audience rating isn’t higher may reflect on the fact it doesn’t exactly have the usual happy ending, yet it’s a much more poignant one. Liam’s acting is superb as is the other cast.”
A new pre-Amazon Prime Day deal means you can listen to millions of songs from the latest top artists totally free. Amazon Prime members can get five months of music – streamed and downloaded for when you don’t have wifi – completely free in a limited time offer.
Another said: “A tremendous movie. Liam Neeson’s acting is brilliant. Not sure how anyone can say this is not a good movie. Story, cinematography, acting are fantastic.”
Additionally, critics have praised the film’s intensity. Describing it as “bone-chilling” and “relentless”, one reviewer commented: “Brutal film. This is a very tough film to watch. I’ve seen it many times. Definitely not a feel good movie but the performances are outstanding.”
Neeson’s latest feature, In The Land of Saints and Sinners, landed on Netflix back in May. The Robert Lorenz directed movie, which is set in 1970s Ireland, was a hit with audiences and continues to do well for the streamer.
