She’s known as much for her headline grabbing antics as for her music, so fans won’t be too surprised at Lady Gaga’s performance in a new promotional video.
The 25-year-old hit singer impressively multi-tasks as she strips off her black bra while performing a jazzy version of her latest song You & I.
The singer, sporting black trousers and long platinum blonde hair, sings alongside a jazz band for the clip to promote next Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.
Strip: Lady Gaga takes off her black bra and waves it around as she plays the piano for a new MTV promo to promote next Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards
In the arty promotional black and white video, the singer ends her strip with protecting her modesty with a song sheet as she looks into the camera in the middle of a large ‘M’ for MTV.
The star will be the opening performer at the MTV ceremony, which takes place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on August 28.
She is nominated for four VMAs, including Best Female Video and Best Video With a Message for Born This Way, as well as Best Art Direction and Best Choreography for Judas.

Taking part: Gaga still manages to sing in the arty black and white video while performing the strip
‘It means the world to me,’ Gaga said of being asked to open the show. ‘I just feel really blessed every day. I have the most amazing fans.’
The topless promo is one of four that the star has filmed for the network.
The other clips include Gaga discussing her musical inspiration along with her attitude to writing music.
Another clip shows the star tell viewers: ‘Sometimes I’m really happy when I write music, and sometimes I’m really angry. Sometimes I’m really drunk and sometimes I’m super sober. You never know why or if you write music.’
Modesty: The promo goes into the letter ‘M’ which shows Gaga protecting her modesty with a song sheet while a band member plays the trumpet
‘I really believe that art is this huge lie,’ she says in another clip. ‘We sing it and we dance it and we dress it every day, and me and my friends, we hope some day, we tell it enough so it becomes true.’
In another shot, she is seen dancing and laughing with friends in an array of different outfits.
‘I really wanted it to be real, and I knew that MTV wanted it to be a true documentation of my life, and as someone that lives halfway between reality and fantasy, so do all my friends,’ she said in a backstage interview.
‘So I felt [it would be] an injustice to not sort of honour them in this short film that we did.’

Piano lady: Gaga is fully dressed for another promo as she plays a jazzy version of her latest single You & I
Jazzed up: The singer sits at the piano while accompanied by a band including a trumpeter, drummer and a man on the double bass
‘I brought my friends here, and we did a jazz rendition of You and I, and we sort of just hung out together,’ she said.
‘And played around and did what we usually do, which is be creative with one another and talk about music and art and fashion and f****** around.’
Today, the star looked a little more like her normal self as she stepped out of her hotel in an outrageous piece of white lace headgear.
Wearing a pro gay rights wristband reading ‘We Stop Hate’, she stopped and took pictures with waiting fans in New York.
She teamed the bizarre hat with a grey high necked sparkling bodysuit and her trademark black platform heels.
Hat’s off: Lady Gaga emerged from her hotel in New York earlier today in an outrageous white lace piece of headgear, along with her trademark platform heels and a glittery black body suit
