After their relationship came to a shocking end in the early 2000s, both artists moved on with other partners in their lives. Even so, they would often be asked about each other in interviews and other such events. While they have spoken highly of each other at all times, Lopez might have slipped up in one interview she appeared for a decade ago.

Despite having been in the same room before, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez did not have their first major meeting until they started working together on the 2003 movie Gigli. Sparks flew immediately and the duo’s on-screen romance translated into real life.

The next two years were a bit of a rollercoaster for them because their relationship was subjected to a huge amount of media attention and public scrutiny. What had begun as a fairytale quickly turned into a nightmare as the two had to delay their wedding and ultimately, call off their engagement in early 2004.

Lopez moved on with singer Marc Anthony, whom she had briefly dated in 1990. The two remained married from 2004 to 2014, and The Wedding Planner actress stopped discussing her personal life in interviews. Despite this, she was asked a rhetorical question involving the Gone Girl actor and her former partner Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

In an interview with BigBoyTV, Lopez was asked if she was on a raft in the middle of the ocean and she saw two people, Affleck and Diddy, floating in the water, but only had the chance to save one person, who would be that person. The Maid in Manhattan star jokingly replied: I’d let both those motherf***ers drown.

Then, she tried to do damage control by saying that Diddy knew she loved him. She concluded the interview by stating that it was the worst interview ever since it put her in a tough spot, and would probably land her in trouble for her comments.

Lopez’s reunion with Affleck was supposed to be a happy ending for the actors, but that seems to have changed over the past couple of months as the issues between the two of them have become increasingly prominent.

An insider recently opened up to OK! Magazine regarding the tensions between them, stating that being on the opposite coasts because of their busy schedules has also increased the emotional distance between them. The insider explained:

Over time, Jennifer and Ben found it increasingly difficult to communicate effectively and small misunderstandings grew into significant arguments. They have fundamentally different approaches to conflict.

The insider also claimed that Lopez is embarrassed because if this marriage comes to an end, it will be her fourth divorce. So, she is committed to making it work.
