NBA D-Wade cashes in on his duo with LeBron

Even today, Dwyane Wade probably remains LeBron James’ best career teammate. But while their duo has become legendary in Miami, the guard recently confided that cohabitation had not been so easy in Florida.

LeBron James has had a ton of high-level teammates during his first 21 seasons in the NBA .

The Lakers winger notably rubbed shoulders with Shaquille O’Neal during his first stint in Cleveland and when he returned to Ohio, it was Kyrie Irving who played the role of his lieutenant.

Returning to the Purple and Gold, we notably saw him win the title in 2020 with Anthony Davis.

But in the end, none of them seem to come close to Dwyane Wade.

Not because of talent, because Flash was perhaps not the most gifted of his playing partners, but in the chemistry that existed between them.

Drafted together in 2003, the Heat guard and the Chosen One quickly became very close to each other, which also favored their reunion in Florida in the early 2010s.

Dwyane Wade gets candid about his duet with LeBron James

No one has forgotten The Decision, a landmark event in league history when LBJ announced he was “exporting his talents” to South Beach after seven years as a Cavaliers player.

With the joint arrival of Chris Bosh, the Tres Amigos were born in Miami and the King immediately became its figurehead. Which must not have been easy for D-Wade, given his status within the franchise…

Five years after his retirement, the guard is still the best player al-time is by far and at the time of Bron’s arrival, he already had a ring on his finger won in 2006.

However, overnight, he transformed into the superstar’s right-hand man, with success since the Heatles won two titles between 2010 and 2014.

Invited to Carmelo Anthony’s podcast, he confided however that it had not been a sinecure.

Was it difficult? Yes, but I also think I was the perfect person to play that role. Not many people can play that role.

Bron is a great player, but you have to work around him to play with him.

The first few years we were together, we did everything together. Every interview, every press conference, every time you saw him, you saw me.

Nobody wanted it. My team didn’t want it, my family didn’t want it, they were mad. Bron’s team didn’t want it.

Nobody wanted it to happen, basketball didn’t want it to happen. So I made sure to bond even more with LeBron, because I knew we had to be really close or it would be a failure.

In the end, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade had the expected success at the Heat. Fortunately, as Flash confides… because few people in the NBA agreed with the creation of their tandem, including within his own clan.
