Britney Spears’ fans seem to think that Justin Timberlake’s recent run-in with law was karmic payback for how he treated the songstress in the past.

Throughout Britney’s, 42, career she’s often been shamed in the media for seemingly partying excessively, and struggling with substance abuse. Whereas her ex-boyfriend Justin, 43, has been able to evade bad press for the majority of his career. Until now that is. The tables have since turned, and now Justin is the one being scrutinized. Justin made headlines today after he was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor in the Hamptons early Tuesday morning.

He reportedly ran a stop sign and was seen “swerving” as he drove. Justin claimed to the police who pulled him over that he “had one martini,” according to an arrest report obtained by People.

However, sources in law enforcement told TMZ that the police smelled alcohol on his breath, and that he couldn’t pass the field sobriety test where he had to walk and turn and balance on one leg. Justin appeared in his mug shot with a stone-cold face, lacking any emotion, but still looking clean-cut as he was pictured in a black shirt.

Many members of the Britney Army swarmed X, formerly Twitter, shortly after news broke that the N’SYNC frontman was apprehended.

Several on the social media platform seemed not to feel any concern for Justin. Instead many mocked the singer, and called him out for how he appeared to have publicly judged his ex-girlfriend Britney years ago.

“Stop drinking. You know who you are, I’m speaking to you. Stop drinking, you’re gonna get sloppy, OK is gonna say something bad about you,” Justin said in a clip from 2007 that an individual shared on X. Although Justin didn’t name who was addressing, many assumed he was talking about Britney. At the time the pop star was reportedly struggling with addiction.

“KARMA #JusticeForBritney #criminal,” one Britney fan wrote on X.

Several seem not to have any sympathy for Justin because he appeared not to have any for Britney in her time of trouble. Under the X hashtag Cry Me a River, several have reshared Justin’s mugshot with the caption, “cry me a river,” mocking him via the title of his hit 2002 song of the same name.

Not only are people shading Justin for his arrest, but they’re also trying to use the incident to catapult Britney’s 2011 song Criminal back onto the music charts. There is an entire movement that is happening on X where Britney’s fans are pushing for people to stream Criminal.

“Anyway…….stream criminal by Britney Spears,” an X fan insisted.

One Britney fan X account stated, “Stream and buy Criminal by Britney Spears…,” and another person emphasized: “Stream Criminal by Britney Spears today!”

Justin’s criminal charge has seemed to bring countless people together, in support of Britney that is.
