'Bass Players Always Seem to Get Along': There Aren't 'Rivalries' Between Bassists, Rob Trujillo Says (as Opposed to Some Other Instruments)

Robert Trujillo explained how bass players get along with each other, comparing the relationships to guitar player “rivalries.”In an appearance on That Jamieson Show, Trujillo was asked how he felt about having another famous bass player in his family, referring to his son Tye Trujillo, who played with Korn at age 12. The Metallica bassist answered (transcribed by Ultimate Guitar):

“It’s awesome. And the cool thing about it is, Tye’s got his thing and I’ve got my thing, as far as the way we play, and there’s mutual respect, which is always a good thing just in general with bass players.”

Trujillo continued, noting that bass players seem to avoid the rivalries and competitive spirit present in the guitar-playing world, opting instead to get along with each other and cooperate:

“Bass players always seem to get along. I always say they get along the best. I don’t feel like there’s the rivalries as much as there is with some of the other instruments, like guitar or something it’s like, ‘Oh, I’m better than that dude.’ Bass players tend to get along and there’s things that he does, and I’m like, ‘How do you do that? Show me how you do that.'”

Metallica’s Robert Trujillo has boozy secret to ‘fresh’ hair for headbanging

“What’s the secret behind your beautiful hair?” asked Olma. “Is there a special conditioner?”

“You know, a little bit of beer in there and some Jägermeister,” Trujillo casually replied. “Those are the key ingredients for fresh hair: beer and Jäger.”

Despite the fact that the yeast in the alcoholic drink provides a source of Vitamin B and is rich in protein, potassium, iron, zinc and magnesium, there is no concrete proof that washing your hair in beer is beneficial, according to experts.

Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo said that his secret to keeping his hair looking fresh was the fact that he washes it in beer and Jägermeister.

There is also no evidence that Jägermeister — which contains “all-natural” ingredients — increases hair growth.

The Post reached out to Trujillo for comment.

During the interview, Trujillo did not say what kind of beer, though the rock group has collaborated with California’s Stone Brewing to create their own beverage, called “Enter Night Pilsner.”

According to the product description, the drink “represents the cataclysmic collision of two uncompromising supernatural forces” and “much like the band, transcends genres, shatters preconceptions and challenges convention.”

Trujillo added that his genetics are to thank for his long luscious locks of black hair.

“It’s in the genes,” said the 58-year-old. “I guess my dad was part Native American so we have a lot of hair maybe coming from that side of the family.”

“I tell you, our family, we all have hair,” continued the bassist.

The “Master of Puppets” player thinks that his hair is both a gift and a curse.

“The drain of your shower and your sinks, they get clogged with long hair,” explained Trujillo. “So the bills from the plumber are pretty massive, and we’ve gotta deal with it.”
