ITV viewers have been left fuming at Britain’s Got Talent.

Friday night’s episode saw a nail-biting semi-final ahead of Sunday’s grand finale. But some couldn’t help but notice some subtle details in last night’s instalment as show fans became fuming with the judges’ votes, claiming one act was completely rigged.

Comedian Alex Mitchell and magician Trixy both landed a place in tomorrow’s final, with the autistic funnyman being sent straight through after receiving the most public votes, while Trixy was picked by the judges over blind musicians Denise and Stefan.

Some viewers have taken to social media to declare a fix in Trixy’s favour, with theories starting with the magician’s performance. He started his act instructing everyone to use their mobile phone calculator, he asked judge Bruno Tonioli what time he woke up that morning. “8.45am,” the Italian star replied as Trixy told viewers to input 845 into the calculator before asking co-star Alesha Dixon how many people were in the audience.

She revealed 3,000 people were in the studio as Trixy again told people to add 3,000 to the 845 already inputted. He added Amanda Holden’s 1.04am bedtime using 104 and finally asked host Declan Donnelly to come up with a random six-digit number. After adding in the new numbers, Trixy told viewers to press the equals button. It gave an answer of 315, 823, read out exactly at 8.23pm on May 31, leaving viewers stunned.

But not everyone was convinced, with users on X, formally Twitter, suggesting Dec must have been “in” on the unbelievable act. “Trixy, that wasn’t actual magic. its numbers, which dec had an earpiece in for,” one claimed. While someone else said: “Trixy, it’s not magic when Dec is in on it giving the specific number that’s needed to make today’s date. Old trick using a specific app to give you the number needed.”

Later, when the judges had to pick between Trixy and Denise and Stefan, Bruno picked the latter. Alesha said the decision was a “nightmare”, but went with Trixy, the same as Simon and Amanda. Fan theories kicked off again when Alesha said she was picking the magic man to “balance” the votes, making it easier for the others to put him through.

“Alesha said, ‘I’m going to balance it out and pick Trixy’ and then the last two pick Trixy,” another fan fumed on X, attaching a gif that read “It was fixed”. A final fix theory came as eagle-eyed viewers spotted something during the magician’s live performance. With most live TV subtitles, there’s a slight delay as the programme isn’t pre-recorded.

A live speech recognition device will create the subtitles as the show happens, but with non-live shows, the text is pre-loaded. But fans couldn’t help but noticed that last night’s subtitles appeared to load instantly, with someone saying on X: “I’m 99% sure this act is a fix because the subtitles are preloaded, if it was live they’d be on a delay.”
