While star receiver CeeDee Lamb’s contract situation was resolved after landing his desired extension, his quarterback Dak Prescott remains hanging by the same cliffhanger regarding his future with the Dallas Cowboys. However, the former has a firm belief that the latter will get a new contract in the near future.

The situation with Lamb became urgent because he had been holding out since the start of the offseason whereas Prescott has been actively participating in all of the practice drills and preseason. But after the three-time Pro Bowler signed the four-year lucrative $136 million deal, all eyes have now turned to the quarterback and to see where his future lies beyond the 2024 season.

I have no doubt that they will get the deal done. I have no doubt that they're gonna get a deal done. We all know that I want Dak here. Jerry [Jones] wants Dak here too, so let's just get this under control and kill the speculation.

Prescott has previously stated that he is willing to remain in Dallas beyond the coming 2024, for the long term, but he is also open to exploring his other options if that’s what the Cowboys want. He has entered the final year of his existing $160 million deal, and with no franchise tag and trade option, he is likely to enter free agency if no deal is signed.

Dak Prescott provides optimistic update on contract negotiations

The Cowboys’ signal-caller is coming off a remarkable season, except for the playoff wild-card game, but still, no contract proposals have been presented on the table, despite his declaration that he does not wish to be the highest-paid. However, while talking to The Athletic, he gave some optimistic updates on his contract situation, suggesting a possible deal in progress.

Good conversations are going on, I will say that. A lot of good things are going on there. A lot of confidence. I have confidence in my guys and these guys getting something done. I'm happy where I am right now and that's really where my focus is.

Although he wants to live in Dallas, he understands it’s a business. Unlike other players in the league, Prescott decided not to hold out from the training camp and preseason believing there was no point worrying about things beyond his power, so he diverted all his focus on his plays and improving his performance.
