The New York Giants never really had a chance to draft Jayden Daniels, given that they were picking at No. 6 this year, but they grilled him during the pre-draft period anyway, putting him on the spot in front of ‘Hard Knocks’ cameras.

A clip from the series shows Giants head coach Brian Daboll asking the former LSU quarterback to draw up plays, switch positions up, and throw the plays back at him (without looking).

After doing so with one play, Daboll asks another question.

“If it’s Cover 1, what do we want you to do?” Daboll quizzed.

“Throw a touchdown,” Daniels replied.

“I like that answer,” the coach laughed.

Fans Roast Jayden Daniels Over His Response

While the response was a confident one, it was probably due to the quarterback being stumped, and fans were quick to point it out.

“Bro couldn’t even recite an easy play yeah commanders are cooked,” one wrote in the comments.

“now I hope he torches the giants for making him do all ts,” wrote another.

“Young buck doesn’t know to work the shock/slot fade vs cov1. Concerning,” a third noted.

“Gets it wrong then has no idea what the answer at the end is so he pulls out a generic answer,” said a fourth.

In any case, the Washington Commanders ended up taking Jayden Daniels at No. 2.

The Giants selected wide receiver Malik Nabers with their No. 6 pick. They didn’t take a QB in the draft and are heading into the 2024 season with Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito.
