NFL Network has been witnessing a major overhaul as many key personnel continue to face the heat of layoffs.

Legendary WR Michael Irvin let go by NFL Network after serving nearly two decades as a key broadcaster for the media house

It has been a long time since Michael Irvin has spent his Sundays at home watching the game from the comfort of his couch. It seems the playmaker will have to get used to this as his contract with NFL Network will not be renewed, rendering him out of the broadcaster’s role after his 15-year affiliation with the network.

The official network of the NFL is looking to bring down costs and Michael Irvin is one of the key figures who is bearing the brunt of this move. The three-time Super Bowl champion and icon in Dallas Cowboys history has been affiliated with the network since 2009. He played an instrumental role in the success of GameDay Morning, a show which airs before the scheduled games on Sunday.

It has been a rocky road for the Hall of Famer as in 2023; he faced allegations of s*xual misconduct by a woman while covering the Super Bowl. This compelled the network to withdraw him from the team covering the big game and Irvin was sent home pending further proceedings.

Michael Irvin is now affiliated with FOX Sports as a regular guest on Undisputed

However, the playmaker was proven innocent and the NFL Network rightfully gave him his job back. In recent months, he has taken on a key role with FOX Sports as he is a regular guest on Undisputed on FS1 alongside Skip Bayless, Keyshawn Johnson, and Richard Sherman.

As is normal course of business this time of year, we are evaluating our talent roster for the upcoming 2024 season and beyond. That process results in renewals, non-renewals, and additions to our talent lineup depending on programming needs. To those departing talent, we give our sincere thanks and appreciation for their hard work and contributions to NFL Media.

Alex Riethmiller, NFL Network’s VP of Communications, told the Athletic

Some other shows of NFL network that will face the sharp edge of the sword is NFL Total Access which will air its final show this month. Other prominent names that will no longer be affiliated with the network are James Palmer, Will Selva, Andrew Siciliano, and Melissa Stark. There are a lot of changes proposed within the network and a major overhaul is coming.

Considering how charismatic and objective an analyst Michael Irvin is, he will not have major trouble landing another gig soon enough.
