Jelly Roll has kept a place in the headlines this year because he is one of the hottest performers in country music.

But the latest headlines are not for what he has done on stage and are instead due to tragedy. According to multiple reports, the singer’s wife, Bunnie Xo, lost her father, Bill, Wednesday after a battle with cancer.

Taste of Country reported that he had received a Stage IV diagnosis last year, and was placed in hospice care back in November. Despite that, Bunnie announced that he had hip replacement surgery in February and was making some marked improvement.

“Hey Bill, I’m going to miss you,” she wrote. “You are still my favorite rock star & my hero. This one’s going to hurt. Rest easy & don’t’ make too many angels fall in love.”
