“They care about their party and power before their country,” Sunny Hostin said of Haley, who endorsed Trump at the RNC, going back on prior criticisms.
The View cohosts just took a little time to enjoy a savage montage highlighting politician Nikki Haley’s flip-flopping perspective on Donald Trump.
Whoopi Goldberg began Wednesday morning’s show by pointing out that Haley — who previously ran against Trump ahead of the Republican National Convention — was “one of the Republican nominee’s most vocal critics when she challenged him in the primaries,” cueing up a clip package of multiple instances where Haley tore into Trump and his character on the campaign trail.
Moments from the footage included past Haley appearances in which she called Trump “unstable and unhinged,” “toxic,” “not qualified” for office, and noting that “there is no way that the American people are going to vote for a convicted criminal” in the presidential election. Goldberg contrasted the montage with Haley’s Tuesday night speech at the RNC, where she enthusiastically endorsed Trump.
Panelist Joy Behar called the former South Carolina governor “pathetic” for her words, adding that “she’s a big disappointment” for “giving permission to her people to vote for him” by standing in his corner on a public forum.

“It was like Invasion of the Body Snatchers last night. She’s not the only one, they’re all up there kissing the ring of their leader,” Behar quipped, to which cohost later Sunny Hostin elaborated on: “They only care about power. They care about their party and power before their country, and that’s very, very clear.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin, one of Trump’s former White House communications associates, also criticized Haley, after previously propping her up when Haley still challenged Trump in the race for the party’s nomination.
“If I may say, my most disappointing moment of Nikki Haley last night was she had an opportunity to say why America needs to stand with our allies on the world stage, to counteract [Trump’s V.P. pick] J.D. Vance,” Griffin said. “And she didn’t do it. I know that’s something she deeply believes in, and it was a missed opportunity.”
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Haley’s team for comment.
On stage at the RNC in Milwaukee, Wis., Haley said Trump asked her to speak “in the name of unity,” which she obliged. “I’ll start by making one thing perfectly clear: Donald Trump has my strong endorsement, period.” she told the audience. “You don’t have to agree with Trump 100 percent of the time to vote for him. Take it from me. I haven’t always agreed with President Trump, but we agree more often than we disagree.”
In addition to Haley’s speech, this week’s RNC was a breeding ground for moments that were eventually lampooned online, including when model Amber Rose took the stage to voice full support for Trump and the Make America Great Again movement, as well as when Borat Subsequent Moviefilm star, disbarred lawyer, and former mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani took a tumble on the convention floor.
