Martina Navratilova reacted to an incident that happened to girls in Lincoln Middle School. The incident was about five female athletes protesting when they were asked to compete against a biological male student. As a consequence of their protest, these girls were suspended.

As per 12WBOY, a West Virginia judge, Patrick Morrisey, granted a preliminary injunction, allowing those girls to compete in next events. He stated that he backed these girls for exercising their constitutionally protected freedom of speech and expression.

These girls didn't disrupt anything when they protested. They should be commended, not punished. We need to teach them that it is noble to stand firm in their beliefs and address their grievances within the protections guaranteed by our protection.

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey stated

During the hearing, the Harrison County Board of Education argued that they had to abide by the district’s rule which says that those athletes who voluntarily remove themselves from the competition cannot participate in future events.

However, two girls claimed they had no idea about this rule and were made to do extra drills as punishment for protesting. Reacting to the entire event, Navratilova ridiculed the suspension on X.

Sanity prevails. A ridiculous suspension in the first place.

Navratilova wrote that though she is not against trans people, she is concerned about women’s spaces.

I have no issue re: trans people. This is about women’s s*x based spaces. All 4 trans identified females who want to compete against women if no testosterone (because they are female) or against men if they take testosterone. But male bodies cannot fairly compete against females
