World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has embraced the dark side of the game as he is set to use an all-black racquet for the rest of his career with his signature written ‘legend’ on the speed frame. This new ‘Stand Out’ racquet is to celebrate Djokovic’s unique status in tennis.
Djokovic has grown on and off the court with his unique style of play and unending drama on the court. Last year, he won three out of the four major titles as his tally reached a total of 24, with half of them won since he clocked 30 in 2017. He went on to finish the year as World No. 1, beating Spanish youngster Carlos Alcaraz.
Djokovic racquet maker Head has always worked with the 36-year-old to produce the best kind of racquets for him since becoming their ambassador in 2008. Max Bauer, head’s product manager of performance racquet, revealed that black racquet combines many features Djokovic loves.
Novak Djokovic slated to play on Tuesday after earning a last-minute wildcard in Geneva Open
Novak Djokovic has taken a last-minute wildcard for the ATP 250 Geneva Open a few days after suffering a heavy defeat at the hands of Chilean Alejandro Tabilo at the Italian Open. The Serbian had earlier been struck by a bottle on the head after it fell from the backpack of a fan.
Although he returned the following day to training with a bike helmet over a white cap, following his loss to Tabilo, he admitted the incident might have caused the defeat. However, he is now hoping to put that behind him by playing in Geneva ahead of Roland Garros on May 26.
