The whole tennis world saw Carlos Alcaraz defend his Wimbledon crown by destroying Novak Djokovic in a one-sided final on the Centre Court. Controversial British journalist Piers Morgan congratulated Alcaraz on X by making a remark about the Serb’s ‘violin celebrations’.

Prior to the final, when Djokovic criticized the Wimbledon crowd after mistaking their chants of ‘Rune’ for boos, Morgan backed him by calling him a ‘monumental d***‘. In the final, there was no such controversy and in fact, there were chants of ‘Nole, Nole’. Nole, however, was far from his best.

Only in the third set did fans see a glimpse of the old Djokovic who used to tire his opponents by making them run all over the court. Then eventually the young Spaniard prevailed over the seven-time Wimbledon champion 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(7-4). Like the tennis fans, Morgan was also surprised to see Djokovic completely outclassed by the 21-year-old’s intense performance.

Wow.. not often you see Djokovic get stuffed like this. Congrats @carlosalcaraz and let’s get the violins out for Novak.

To give more context, Djokovic celebrated his wins at Wimbledon by placing the top part of his racket on top of his shoulder and mimicked playing the violin. Earlier in the tournament, Djokovic explained that the violation celebration was for his six-year-old daughter, Tara Djokovic, who is learning to play the instrument.

An emotional Novak Djokovic said after the defeat to Carlos Alcaraz 

By beating the Serb in straight sets, Alcaraz became the youngest player to win both Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year. Both these players will play in the Paris Olympics, starting on July 27.
