Brad Gilbert recently gave his insights on Novak Djokovic and his quick recovery after knee surgery. He stated that he was surprised at the pace with which he made a healthy recovery to take part in the Wimbledon Championships.

Djokovic had picked up a knee injury at the French Open, withdrew from the tournament, and went under the knife immediately. With only a month left before the Championships, he had little to no chance of making a full recovery. However, he managed to beat all odds and take part in the grass Major.

Coco Gauff‘s coach Brad Gilbert was rather impressed by Djokovic’s recovery. He also suggested that the Serbian should focus on his tennis and ignore everything else.

If I were him, I would focus on my tennis. His tennis is incredible, considering he’s only been out of surgery for five weeks. During the whole week of training, I saw him improve a little bit every day. Almost no player could be in that situation given the rapid change that the surgery brought about. That’s the most surprising thing.

Djokovic was unfortunately not able to lift another title at Wimbledon. He made it to the final and was outclassed in straight sets by Carlos Alcaraz.

Novak Djokovic’s kind words to the Princess of Wales after his Wimbledon Final loss

Novak Djokovic was beaten 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4) by Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final. This was his second-worst final in terms of games won, behind his defeat to Rafael Nadal at the 2020 French Open.

Despite the result, Djokovic was not very upset and wholeheartedly thanked the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, for being present at the event.

I know that she and her sister have played tennis for a very long time. So they truly respect, and admire the game. They also understand tennis, which is great. It's wonderful to have that kind of support from the Royal Family.

Novak Djokovic said during the trophy ceremony

Nevertheless, it was a tough loss for the Serbian, who failed to overcome Alcaraz in the final for the second year running. Djokovic will not turn his attention to the Paris Olympics, where he will be hoping to win his first gold medal.
