Blake Shelton Returning to ‘The Voice’ for Season 25 Finale

Blake Shelton is returning to The Voice, just a year after he ended his long run as a coach on the iconic reality singing competition. The country superstar is set to appear during the Season 25 finale on May 21.

NBC reports that Shelton will join his fellow The Voice alumni Kelly Clarkson, CeeLo Green, Niall Horan, Jennifer Hudson, Nick Jonas, Adam Levine and Shelton’s wife, Gwen Stefani, for a special finale tribute to 25 seasons of The Voice. No further details are yet available.

Shelton joined The Voice during Season 1 in 2011. He is the longest-serving coach in the show’s history.
Shelton departed the show with a special episode in May of 2023.
He is the coach with the most wins in the history of The Voice.

“I’ve been wrestling with this for a while and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from The Voice after next season,” Shelton explained in a lengthy social media note announcing his departure.

“The show has changed my life in every way for the better and it will always feel like home to me,” he added. “It’s been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew and catering people, you are the best. It takes a lot of hard work, passion, and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week.”

Reba McEntire replaced Shelton on The Voice, joining John Legend, Dan + Shay and Chance the Rapper as coaches for the current season. The Voice has revealed that Stefani will return to The Voice as a coach for Season 26, joining McEntire and new coaches Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé.

Blake Shelton’s Winners From ‘The Voice’: Where Are They Now?

Several more have shifted genres, changed their name or just flat-out gone missing. Here is the latest on every Team Blake winner from The Voice.

Bryce Leatherwood, Season 22 (2022)

Bryce Leatherwood won Season 22 of The Voice, and since then the country singer has stayed very active touring. The world is short on new, original music from the singer, however.

Cam Anthony, Season 20 (2021)

Blake Shelton’s next to last winner on The Voice was 19-year-old Cam Anthony. His pre-show viral success and covers of pop and R&B songs led to a satisfying win.

Where Is Cam Anthony Today?: He’s in Los Angeles. At last check an EP was on the way, but as he’s signed to Republic Records, that’s anything but certain. Find his song “Keep It Between Us” on streaming providers.

Todd Tilghman, Season 18 (2020)

Todd Tilghman is the oldest winner of The Voice, and his song selection showed it. Bob Seger, Travis Tritt and Peter Cetera were a few artists he chose on his way to winning.

Where Is Todd Tilghman Today?: The pastor released a new song called “Home Wasn’t Built in a Day” in 2022 and has a pretty full touring schedule through early 2023. Since winning, he moved to the Nashville area and has been very busy writing and recording. In 2023 he won several Absolutely Gospel Music Awards.

Chloe Kohanski, Season 13 (2017)

Rocker Chloe Kohanski was Blake Shelton’s second non-country winner. She took Season 13 and signed with UMG’s Republic Records, as all artists did at the time.

Where Is Chloe Kohanski Today?: An EP called c circulated in 2019, but she has since disparaged the music, or at least minimized her connection to it, telling fans in a 2022 tweet that streaming it does her no good. Instead, she points fans to a 2021 full-length called All the Same All OK. Now known as Chloe MK, she’s more or less gone dark on social media.

Sundance Head, Season 11 (2016)

Sundance Head mixed blues, rock and country to win over The Voice fans in 2016. His Chris Stapleton-like look and sound captivated the audience.

Where Is Sundance Head Today?: Like Craig Wayne Boyd (who’s next on this list), he was disillusioned with his experience with record labels, and like Boyd, he wasn’t able to capitalize off of his win. In 2019 he released a critically-acclaimed album called Stained Glass and Neon with famed songwriter Dean Dillon. In September 2022 he followed it up with an album called Starting Again. He’s touring plenty in 2023, especially in Texas.

Craig Wayne Boyd, Season 7 (2014)

Craig Wayne Boyd leaned into classic country during his time on The Voice. George Strait, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash were a few legends he covered.

Where Is Craig Wayne Boyd Today?: Boyd asked to be released from his recording contract with Dot Records, later saying they had no idea who he was when he showed up post-show. His issues with record labels spoke to a bigger problem with the show and its winners: Very few achieved commercial success after winning, something Blake Shelton has admitted, too, and shown frustration with.

Now married with five kids, Boyd had rebranded as part of a country trio called Texas Hill but in early 2023 he revealed he’d been kicked out of the band. So, he’s a touring solo artist once again.

Danielle Bradbery, Season 4 (2013)

Danielle Bradbery was just 16 years old when she won The Voice in spring 2013. She never deviated from country music and truly spoke to a younger audience. Her sales on iTunes during her time on the show were the best yet.

Where Is Danielle Bradbery Today?: Danielle Bradbery is still signed to Big Machine Records, where she’s released three studio albums and several songs digitally. Now 26, she’s a much more defined pop-country artist, but still respected for her vocal ability.

Cassadee Pope, Season 3 (2012)

Hey Monday rocker Cassadee Pope was a four-chair turn during her audition on The Voice in fall 2012. As the competition progressed, she developed into a powerful country vocalist with covers of songs by Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban and Faith Hill.

Where Is Cassadee Pope Today?: Cassadee Pope enjoyed immediate success on country radio with the song “Wasting All These Tears,” but — aside from a duet with Chris Young — she never duplicated it. She released an album and an EP on Republic Records and remains an active performer in country music. Since 2019 she’s released two independent albums, Stages and Thrive. She’s been dating actor Sam Palladio since late 2017.

Jermaine Paul, Season 2 (2012)

Season 2 of The Voice was the breakout season, and the talented and focused Jermaine Paul led the way, showing America that there is untapped talent waiting for a shot and some encouragement. While Paul had some success and a Grammy nomination with Alicia Keys prior to The Voice, he was very much an unknown star.

Where Is Jermaine Paul Today?: Jermaine Paul has not released a tremendous amount of music, and the dated information at his website would lead you to believe he’s moved on from it completely. However, a look at his Instagram shows he’s now focused on Jermaine Paul Entertainment and still releases songs, covers and more. You’ll also see he’s very dedicated to his family.

Famous Singers from The Voice, Then + Now

Ten years (and counting) made a huge difference for many of the most popular singers and stars of The Voice. Blake Shelton looks noticeably different, but so do some of country music’s most memorable performers.

Winners like Cassadee Pope and Danielle Bradbery wore baby faces when they auditioned during their respective seasons. The same can be said for Morgan Wallen, a forgotten castmember from the show who’s transformed more than anyone else on this list of The Voice stars then and now.
