Stephen Curry Calls Out Team USA’s Biggest Weakness Ahead Of Olympics

Stephen Curry and the U.S. National Basketball Team barely won against a talent-deficient South Sudan squad this weekend.

When it was all said and done, Team USA scraped by with a one-point victory thanks to LeBron James’ heroics. In the aftermath, serious speculation loomed that Steve Kerr may be fired before the Olympics actually begin.

Regardless of who the team’s coach is, though – Team USA clearly has a big problem.

Curry addressed that problem on Saturday.

“We can be beat if we don’t play our brand of basketball, and our brand of basketball is playing defense,” Curry said after the game.

Interestingly enough, Team USA’s best defender was forced off the team under dubious circumstances last week.

That said, Curry tried to maintain a spirit of optimism.

“But we also learned we have that gear if we can find it, no matter who’s out there on the court, we can overwhelm teams for 40 minutes and it’s a great reminder of both,” he added.

Curry finished his outing against South Sudan  with 12 points on 4-of-11 from the field and 3-of-9 from beyond the arc.

When Team USA plays well, they are sort of unbeatable. But thus far, they haven’t actually played consistently well in all their games.

Eventually, against tougher competition, that may catch up with them.
