Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence has given a brief update on the status of his wife Princess Anne’s health following her hospitalization after sustaining an injury in a horse-related incident. The 69-year-old, who was coming from visiting his wife, answered a few questions asked by the media outside the hospital on June 26, 2024. The 73-year-old sister of King Charles was left with minor injuries and a concussion after an “incident” at her Gatcombe Park home that occurred on June 23, 2024.

“How’s your wife, sir? Is she doing well?” a video shared on X shows someone in the press yelling out as Sir Timothy left the medical facility.

“Recovering slowly, thank you,” Tim replied as he walked toward his car.

“Do you expect her out today, sir?” another person in the press proceeded to ask.

“She’ll be out when she’s ready,” he replied, putting his belongings in the vehicle before getting in the driver’s seat.

“Praying for the Princess Royal’s recovery. 🙏🏾❤️,” one person commented.

“Sending prayers and positive energy for a healthy healing recovery for Princess Anne 🍀🙏🌺,” another person said.

In a previous update on June 25, 2024, Tim gave a similar response. “She is recovering well, thank you. We are both profoundly grateful to the medical team and hospital support staff for their expert care — and to the emergency services who were all so wonderful at the scene.”

“We are both deeply touched by all the kind messages we have received from so many people near and far. It means a great deal,” he continued. In another clip posted online that day, Tim told press that Princess Anne was, “Fine. Slow but sure.”

The announcement of her hospitalization came on June 24, 2024, from Buckingham Palace. “The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening,” the statement read. “Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery.”

“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery,” it continued. Because of the concussion sustained, exact details of the accident aren’t able to be shared. However, it is known that Princess Anne’s injuries are consistent with a potential impact from a horse’s head or hooves.

Due to the accident, the royal has been unable to continue with her scheduled duties. A spokesperson confirmed that she wouldn’t be in attendance at the Buckingham Palace banquet King Charles held in honor of the Japanese state visit on June 25. Her plans to fly to Canada were also called off. “Her Royal Highness sends her apologies to any who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result,” a palace spokesperson relayed.
