Djokovic sustained a knee injury during a Paris Olympics quarterfinal win over Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Novak Djokovic may have reached the Paris Olympics semifinal but there wasn’t much happiness on his face afterward as the Serbian tennis star admitted that he is “concerned” about his knee and is praying for the best.
On Thursday evening, Djokovic overcame Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 7-6 (3) on the clay courts of Roland Garros in a rematch of the 2021 French Open final.
But before the 37-year-old Serb went on to seal a win, he slipped on Court Philippe Chatrier early in the second set and required medical assistance and also took a painkiller.
If you remember well, just two months earlier – Djokovic tore his knee meniscus during a French Open round-of-16 win over Francisco Cerundolo and later had to withdraw from his quarterfinal match and undergo surgery.
Now, Djokovic is scheduled to play his Paris Olympics semifinal match versus Lorenzo Musetti on Friday. But the Serb is seemingly very concerned as he was also able play out the entire Cerundolo match and win before learning that he sustained a serious knee injury.

“I’m concerned about the state of the knee. I cannot give you exact information because I don’t have it. I have to go and examine the knee with medical staff and then let’s see,” Djokovic said.
“I’m playing at 7:00 pm. tomorrow, which gives me slightly more time. But I’m hoping I can be ready and be optimistic. I have to be. The anti-inflammatory helped. But that effect is going to fade away, so I’ll have probably a more realistic picture tomorrow and then hope for the best.

In his press, Djokovic made it clear that he is just hoping to avoid the French Open scenario.
“It’s good that I managed to get it done in straight sets and finish the match tonight. But I also finished my fourth-round match at the French Open and then discovered that I had torn my meniscus. I need to see what happens now. I don’t know what to say. It’s day by day. I hope I can be physically fit for tomorrow,” Djokovic explained.
