Milwaukee Bucks All-Star point guard Damian Lillard‘s love for boxing is no secret in the NBA. But after his workout video was shared on social media, fans have shared reactions to Dame’s non-basketball training regimen.

Lillard’s affinity for boxing traces back to his childhood, where he fondly recalls watching significant boxing matches alongside his entire family. This early exposure cultivated his passion for the sport, which he now considers his favorite to watch.

The fighting spirit displayed by boxers resonated deeply with him, and he has seamlessly integrated boxing into his offseason workouts. This has contributed to his development as one of the NBA’s most clutch players. In the 11 seasons he spent playing for the Portland Trail Blazers, the former Rookie of the Year averaged 25.2 points on 37 percent shooting from deep, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game.

Just recently, Lillard has given his take on various boxing matches, including those that involved Tyson Fury, Gervonta Davis, and Frank Martin, among others. Furthermore, he expressed his interest in venturing into boxing management following his NBA career, driven by his concern over the treatment of fighters who endure significant risks.

Milwaukee Bucks Fans Give Mixed Reactions To Damian Lillard’s Boxing Training Session

Thanks to an early playoff exit by the Indiana Pacers, Lillard saw his offseason start earlier than expected. He can be seen working out using a boxing program in a video posted on Instagram, which has led to mixed reactions from fans online.

On one hand, some fans have jokingly said Lillard is training to be like Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green to achieve his physicality on the court. A good chunk of fans, though, have supported the Bucks guard for putting in the work.

It remains to be seen whether his boxing workout will yield dividends once the season starts. In any case, it’s great to see the All-Star guard using his love for boxing to prepare when the Bucks return later this year.
