Caitlin Clark is enjoying a short break from basketball, then it’s right back to work.

The Indiana Fever guard was a controversial omission from Team USA, but will be putting in work while the U.S. women’s basketball team is aiming for another gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Fever coach Christie Sides revealed in an interview with the Spokesman-Review that Clark and most of her teammates will spend the nearly month-long break working on some new things.

“The time that we’re going to get to spend, that will help chemistry-wise,” Sides said. “This is when they’ll get to practice and spend some time together not just on the road. So, they’ll get some time.

“Also, we’ll get to do some things differently. We’ll have time to implement new stuff. We’ll have time to tweak things, add things, and that’s exciting because we see what we have out there and what we can do.”

Clark is taking a bit of a break first, going on vacation in Mexico with teammate Lexie Hull.

But it appears an extended trip to Paris won’t be happening, as Sides said Clark will remain in Indiana along with 11 of her teammates. The lone exception is Kristy Wallace, who is playing for the Australian team at the Paris Olympics.
