In absolutely devastating news, a 16-year-old football player named Caden Tellier suffered a fatal head injury during a game and sadly passed away.

Tragedy struck on Friday night as a high school football player from Alabama named Caden Tellier lost his life due to a severe head injury sustained during a game.

Caden Tellier was a 16-year-old junior at Morgan Academy, and suffered a critical injury in the third quarter of their game against Southern Academy in Selma. According to Bryan Oliver, the headmaster of Morgan Academy, the quarterback sustained a brain injury from a heavy tackle. He was swiftly transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital but did not survive.

The family shared the heartbreaking news via social media.

«We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved Caden Tellier has passed away,» they posted on Facebook. «We are grateful for your prayers and ask for continued support during this difficult time. Caden’s life was a testament to kindness and generosity, and his legacy will continue to touch lives even in his passing. His life has made a difference, and now, his donation will save lives.»

Michael McClendon, Executive Director of the Alabama Independent School Association, stated that it appears Caden Tellier experienced a ruptured blood vessel in his brain following a routine play where he was tackled. He mentioned that the full details of the incident are still being investigated and that further information may take some time to be revealed to the public.

Morgan Academy also issued a statement on their Facebook page, remembering Caden as a «bright light» in their school community.

«The grief we feel is beyond words,» the statement read. «Caden’s memory will forever remain with us, and his impact on Morgan Academy will never be forgotten.»

In response to this tragedy, the school has decided to cancel all sports activities for the upcoming week, including the team’s next scheduled game against Wilcox Academy.
