WNBA: New York Liberty at Chicago SkyAngel Reese had a heartwarming reaction to a fan who wanted the Sky rookie to touch her sweater.

Angel Reese is unquestionably one of the most popular players in the WNBA despite this season being her rookie year.

Interest in Chicago Sky games has increased due to the presence of the self-named “Chi Barbie.”

With Reese having a solid debut season, her legions of followers are steadily growing.

Leading into Saturday’s game versus the Atlanta Dream, a throng of fans went to Wintrust Arena to catch a glimpse of Reese.

A young supporter lined up along the tunnel for a chance to have the Sky forward touch her sweater. When her plan worked, the fan promised not to wash the said sweater ever again.

Angel Reese likely saw the clip on X, formerly Twitter, and responded:

“Awww”

There is a big chance an official from the Sky will reach out to the young fan and give her a signed jersey. Reese has been spotted before going out of her way to mingle with children who want to watch her play. It wouldn’t be a surprise if she had something for the follower in the viral video.

Two weeks ago, Angel Reese brightened up the day of six-year-old Lillian Freiburg. Not only did Reese sign the jersey the kid wore, but she also had Ty Young do the same to a rookie card Freiburg carried.

Basketball fans react to Angel Reese’s response to the fan in the viral clip

Angel Reese only had a one-word response to the viral clip that showed the excited young fan. Reese’s reaction, however, spawned reactions on X, formerly Twitter:

“Never gets old seeing the players make time for their fans, a few seconds can mean the world.”

One fan suggested how Reese should reciprocate:

“Gotta send her some autographed memorabilia & tickets to a game to do a meet & greet.”

Another fan predicted the girl’s future:

“a future baller”

Somebody said what many might have felt:

“A beautiful fan supporting a beautiful player.”

The young fan and Reese did not interact in person but the exchange on social media quickly caught fire. It was a back-and-forth that largely generated positive responses. The WNBA will only grow every time such a fan-player connection happens.

Reese and the Sky’s next game on Wednesday will still be at home. They have a rematch against the 10-1 Connecticut Sun that beat them 86-82 late in May. Another young fan will likely be lining up to get a chance to connect with the “Chi Barbie.”
