Former NBA Champion Claims Victor Wembanyama Can Join Los Angeles Lakers After Luka Doncic's Rumors As LeBron James's Successor Heats UpLuka Doncic, Victor Wembanyama (Image Source: Getty Images)
According to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, Robert Horry now believes Victor Wembanyama will be the next target after Luka Doncic was connected to the Los Angeles Lakers. The seven-time NBA champion said on the most recent “Big Shot Bob Podcast” that famous players often have ties to the Lakers, and the Spurs center is no exception.

The San Antonio Spurs selected Wembanyama first overall in the 2023 NBA draft, and he is anticipated to be the team’s leading player as we advance. His extraordinary ability on both ends of the floor is the reason for this. Horry highlighted one possibility that the big guy would be dissatisfied with his circumstances in San Antonio.

Horry said, “You always hear anybody that the next star … is always going to be connected to the Lakers. Now it’s Luka’s turn. At some point of time down the line, hell, it’s going to be Wemby. Give it two, three seasons especially if the Spurs aren’t doing anything or Wemby may not be ‘happy,’ you going to see his name connected to the Lakers.”

As LeBron James approaches the end of his NBA career, the Lakers wonder who will lead the team besides Anthony Davis. Thus, starting to build for the future with Luka Doncic would not be a terrible idea.

The Lakers may make a compelling move if they acquire Victor Wembanyama. However, it will be interesting to see what type of offer they need to put together. Who do you think will emerge as James’s successor? With 39-year-old LeBron, it’ll be a developing procedure over the next two years.

Luka Doncic Previously Praised Victor Wembanyama For His Stellar Performance Last Season

Luka Doncic has experience against some of the best players in the NBA. According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, it helped him recognize what he saw in Victor Wembanyama. His statement came after their matchup against the Spurs.

Doncic said, “It’s pretty crazy what he does on the court. No, the things he does for that length, it’s unbelievable the way he moves, handles the ball, shoots the ball, and the blocking. So, I’ve been watching, and he’s an amazing player.”

Although he still has space for development, Victor Wembanyama has the jump shot and low-post scoring going for him. In addition to his scoring prowess, he has established himself as one of the league’s top defenders. We’ll have to wait for next season to see if he can deliver the same.

Caitlin Clark, the standout player for the Indiana Fever, and Angel Reese, the forward for the Chicago Sky, once again captivated WNBA fans with their intense rivalry in a Friday game. The Fever emerged victorious with a score of 100-81 over the Sky, intensifying the ongoing debate for the Rookie of the Year.

Amidst various player and analyst speculations, a superstar from the NBA recently joined the discussion to support his favorite player. Following the game, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, recently praised by Lakers owner, expressed his support for Clark on his X account.

In a recent post, James wrote, “CAITLIN CLARK!!!! HI HATERS.” The four-time NBA champion supported Clark as Rookie of the Year. However, Reese’s previous posts trolling King James have resurfaced after the Lakers superstar supported Clark for the WNBA Rookie of the Year award.

In June 2021, the Lakers lost to the Phoenix Suns in their first-round playoff series. James was trolled on social media, with comments suggesting that he didn’t have enough support to win with his team. Reese mocked the idea in response to a Twitter post criticizing James and wrote, “No, LeBron was no help.”

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese Face Off in Friday’s Game

In her debut season, Clark has already begun making history in the WNBA by setting records and achieving milestones. The 22-year-old point guard became the first rookie to achieve a triple-double and set the WNBA record for most assists in a single game. Considered one of the greatest collegiate players of all time, Clark delivered an outstanding performance against the Sky in Friday’s game, scoring 31 points, providing 12 assists, and securing four rebounds.

On the other hand, Reese, who recently set the WNBA record for consecutive double-doubles, scored 10 points, made two assists, and grabbed 11 rebounds. The former LSU player, who won the NCAA championship in 2023, has been making waves in her debut professional season. Moreover, in a 70-62 loss to the Minnesota Lynx on June 30, she achieved her tenth consecutive double-double, surpassing Candace Parker for the longest single-season streak in WNBA history.
