In just a few hours, we will finally know if Bronny James will be drafted by the Lakers or another team. While expectations surrounding LeBron’s son are very high, the family’s agent, Rich Paul, wanted to set things straight.

Throughout the season, Bronny James’ name was mentioned in debates and rumors. Despite a complicated first university season, the former USC Trojans player took his courage in both hands and decided to declare himself eligible for the 2024 Draft. The bravest fans will therefore deprive themselves of a few hours of sleep tonight to see whether the prospect will indeed become a member of the Lakers.

Obviously, there is a connection between these rumors and the fact that his father LeBron James is under contract with Los Angeles, at least for now. But it also cannot be ruled out that the 19-year-old leader ends up playing for another franchise. That said, speculation reigns around the level of the latter. That’s why agent Rich Paul looked into his client’s case on the Gil’s Arena podcast .

Before the draft, LeBron’s agent cashes in on Bronny

People feel much more comfortable telling you something negative than telling you something positive, right? It makes them feel good for one reason or another. Bronny can’t be above the criticism and opinions of others because that’s the world he lives in. He cannot benefit from preferential treatment.

He has to go through this path and the slander we hear in hair salons. This is the life he chose, aspiring to become a professional athlete, so he must accept the downside. This is part of reality and I don’t want anything different from that point of view. The expectations are there, and people decide to honor or dishonor what they want and ignore medical issues.

They expect him to be this superhuman young man averaging 55 points per game. As we know, some people’s play and development is not suited to the college level. Personally, I think we develop better professionally because we are more interested in it.

As Rich Paul recalled, Bronny has come a long way, having suffered a cardiac arrest nearly a year ago.

Through his self-denial, the young talent was able to get back on the courts and potentially tread the league’s courts quite soon. Having the same name as a basketball legend can indeed be restrictive in some ways, especially because of the over-mediatization that it brings. But he will have to overcome each of these obstacles in order to be able to impose himself in the NBA.

At the dawn of the Draft, Rich Paul, the agent of LeBron and Bronny James, delivered a strong message concerning the latter.

He indeed wanted to point out that the path chosen by the young leader is far from easy given expectations, but that he will not give up.
