The star rookie had an opportunity to get her points total into the double-digits in the final moments of the game and continue her historic streak; however, she was aggressively defended by the Liberty players to restrict her from scoring.
Regardless of the streak snap, Reese has put up impressive performances in the 23 games she’s played in the WNBA and is averaging double-double numbers of 13.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.5 steals this season.
The seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft will be the only rookie alongside Caitlin Clark to feature in the upcoming All-Star game.
Angel Reese talks about being on the same team as Caitlin Clark for All-Star game
Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark will play together on the All-Star team as they take on Team USA in the upcoming All-Star week.
Despite the narrative regarding the two rookies being rivals, Reese made it clear that she was excited to finally be on the same team as Clark when she appeared on NBA Today on July 10 to discuss her impressive season and upcoming All-Star appearance.
“It’s going to be really cool,” Reese said. “I know so many fans are gonna come out to watch both of us.”
“I know a lot of people are just gonna come to Phoenix, I’m sure it’s already sold out. Being able to be in that environment, we’re gonna be playing together for a while so this is not gonna be the [last] time. I know we’ll be All-Stars again, and hopefully, in 2028 we’ll be Olympians together.”
Angel Reese and Cailtin Clark were selected for the All-Star team in a process that was partially determined by WNBA viewers. Clark earned the most fan votes of any player in the league with 700,733 votes, while Reese recorded the fifth-highest total with 381,518 votes.
