After securing Mikal Bridges in a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, the Knicks selected French guard Pacome Dadiet with the No. 25 pick and Dillon Jones with the No. 26 pick.
However, shortly after acquiring Jones, the Knicks made a surprising decision to trade him to the Oklahoma City Thunder. In exchange for Jones, New York received five second-round picks spread across 2025 to 2027.
Jones is known for excelling in many of the smaller aspects of the game, which likely motivated the Thunder to trade up for him. The move was unexpected, especially considering the Thunder hadn’t invited Jones to the draft’s green room.

In an interview with KSL Sports in February, Dillon Jones expressed his commitment to staying true to his principles.
“I want to be remembered as a player that stood on what I believed in. When I came in, I said that I wanted to be a part of a program where I can be successful, the team can be successful, and I can have a chance to be a pro. Once those things were presented to me, I didn’t go back on that word,” Jones said.
Jones is a 32 percent three-point shooter who proved his prowess before his NBA Draft. He averaged 20.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.2 assists while shooting 48.9 percent from the field for Weber State last season. He also recorded 2.0 steals per game.
