Goldberg suggested that she misread the intern’s name as it was written on the show’s teleprompter.

Whoopi Goldberg celebrated National Intern Day by sweetly hugging one of The View interns live on the air, after the Oscar-winning actress mistakenly called the young production personality by the wrong name.

“Today is National Intern Day, so we want to introduce the hard-working interns of The View: Kiara Delcham and Kiara Moore,” the 68-year-old said in the closing moments of Thursday’s episode, as both Delcham and Moore stood behind the cohosts at the Hot Topics table.

Goldberg’s fellow panelists all corrected the Ghost actress in unison, repeating Delcham’s proper name, Kayla, amid the flub.

“See, you didn’t write Kayla,” Goldberg said to an off-camera crew member, suggesting that the intern’s name wasn’t spelled out for her. “Kayla, come here so I can apologize!”

Alyssa Farah Griffin motioned toward the moderator, telling Kayla to go and “get a Whoopi hug” at the other end of the table.

Goldberg then embraced the young lady, who beamed in the star’s embrace.

“Remember what I say? When people come and they drill the names and stuff, and this is what happens!” Goldberg said of the mistake, before bidding the audience adieu as she laughed off the moment.

“Have a great day, take a little time to enjoy The View, and we’ll see you tomorrow!” the actress said through laughter.
