New York Yankees Slugger DJ LeMahieu New York Yankees Slugger DJ

New York Yankees slugger DJ LeMahieu has not gotten off to the start he was hoping for. After starting the year on the IL with a bruised right foot, he has not been able to get the ball rolling.

Heading into Tuesday, LeMahieu hit .188/.304/.188 with zero home runs and four runs batted in in 15 games. It has gotten to the point that he has become a liability in the lineup.

While manager Aaron Boone raved about how explosive LeMahieu looked at the plate in camp, that has not translated yet. He has looked like a complete shell of himself.

With the recent injuries the team has sustained lately, fans are starting to worry. They do not want LeMahieu out there as an everyday player with the way he is slumping at the plate.

“Hasn’t hit the ball out of the infield since 2020” – one fan posted.

“Is it just me or does DJ do this same chopper almost every at bat?” – posted another.

Fans are tired of seeing LeMahieu roll over on pitches with runners in scoring position. He also holds an 87.6 mph average exit velocity, which is easily a career low.

“DJ needs to sit forever” – said another fan.

“DJ next to go plz” – said another.

“DJ LeGroundout no surprise there” – said another.

Fans are ready to see the team move on from LeMahieu. They do not have much faith that the slugger can get back to being a productive hitter.

With Anthony Rizzo down, the Yankees do not have to turn to DJ LeMahieu

New York Yankees slugger Anthony Rizzo was placed on the IL on Sunday after colliding with reliever Brennan Bernardino. It resulted in Rizzo fracturing his arm and could miss the next four to six weeks.

While the likely move is to move DJ LeMahieu to first base, that is not their only option The club could take a flier on a player that was recently designated for assignment by the Oakland Athletics.

J.D. Davis was recently DFA’d and would be a perfect target for the Bronx Bombers. In 39 games, he hit .236/.304/.366 with four home runs and would be an offensive upgrade from LeMahieu.
